This seasons HOT boys board shorts are seeming to be plaid. They have always been in fashion, but this summer I suspect to see more plaid than ever.

Many of the major retailers like Pac-Sun, Zumiez, Tilly’s and Hollister is featuring lines of board shorts that are plaid. Not that i’m not noticing the other trendy fashions…they are still on the racks. But Plaid is BACK and bigger than ever. In the past it was somewhat difficult to find plaid shorts that had the inner lining in them. Many of the old school surfers just had to suck it up and go commando or where another pair of shorts underneath. I have always been a fan of plaid, so I must say commando is something that I know a little about. OK, enough of the commando talk. Another draw back on plaid was matching–trying to find other articles of clothing that would not make you look like you just stepped of the school bus was daunting at best. The best way to wear plaid is to just not care about matching. Find a pattern of plaid that you like and rock it with what ever you got in your dresser. The great thing is at the beach you won’t be wearing much anything else anyways.

Some of the plaid board shorts that have caught my eye are the Ripper Walker, Barney 10 and the Check Turn made by Quicksilver. I like my plaid shorts to have a larger square pattern as opposed to the smaller checker board pattern that you might have seen. And if your shopping for boys board shorts for your sons…then just go for what every they like. If you are shopping for your kids, odds are you really aren’t looking for a pattern anyways.

So for this summer season look out for Plaid board shorts…they are guaranteed to make a SPLASH on the fashion scene this season!
