In general boys board shorts are more than just your average swim trunks.  These board shorts can be worn in just about every occasion that you may think of.  Are they mainly used for swimming…YES, but they are a very functional swim suit that you can wear anywhere you would like.

Boys board shorts are perfect for the household looking to save money.  You can have you kids wear these types of shorts as their actual swimming shorts or they can wear them at school or play.  They are made of a soft polyester fabric that is very comfortable.  This polyester fabric also does a great job at repelling water, so they dry very quickly.  This is a big plus if you’re at the beach or pool and not wanting to have water tracked all over the place.  If you’re at the beach, boys board shorts dry so quick that you won’t have to worry about taking extra towels for your car seats.  In a pool setting, you won’t have to worry about your boys tracking water into the house…they really do dry quick.  Depending on the size of your boys, 10 minutes is enough time to have them fully dry.

The versatility of these board shorts come from them not having an inner lining.  You can comfortably wear them with any type of undergarment even boxers.  Your typical swim shorts have a inner mesh lining that makes it near impossible to wear with underwear or boxers.  These board shorts are also more fashionable than your normal swim shorts.  Boys board shorts come in a variety of fashion with several prints and colors available.  There are several board short manufactures that specialize in boys board shorts. My favorite is the boys Billabong board shorts (specifically Billabong OCC board short boys) , but Quicksilver board shorts along with boys Hurley board shorts are also well known and are  very solid on quality.

Pricing will range depending on the manufacture and style.  Again, sticking to Billabong, Hurley or Quicksilver is your best bet and all are reasonably priced brands.  Where you shop is totally up to you.  Retail stores such as Pacsun, Tillys and Zumiez all carry the popular brands of boys board shorts that will sure to have a style your boys are looking for. We live in San Diego and there’s a board shorts shop over at Mission Beach that my boys like to buy from. We try to shop local when we can, but I do prefer to shop online and there’s a number of online retailers that have some great deals on boys board shorts.  The best time to shop for boys board shorts is during the winter time when the demand for swimming trunks is at a low.  I also find some great board short deals right after summer when the temperatures start to cool off. Pac Sun tends to have several buy one – get one promotions on their boys board shorts after the summer time.  That’s when I stock up for my kids.  Thinking ahead will save you some money!

Since finding boys board shorts, I have to buy regular swim trunks for my boys.  They love the functionality of being able to wear them wherever and yet, be able to enjoy a swim when they want.
